1) Eat yogurt
2) Drink lots of juice, especially cranberry juice
3) While sleeping, don't wear underwear (in order to prevent stuffiness, preventing bacteria build-up.)

The most obvious sign of bacterial vaginosis infection is an unpleasant foul, often fishy odor. Itching and/or burning sometimes accompany bacterial infections, but are not a required symptom for a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis.

I would recommend you see your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and proper treatment, because if left untreated bacterial vaginosis may increase a woman's risk of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), endometritis, cervicitis, pregnancy complications, and post-operative infections among other health conditions.

Treatment usually consists of three to seven nights of vaginal cream, however oral antibiotic treatment is sometimes prescribed and may be available if you request it from your doctor.

Honestly, you need to see a doctor!! The bacterial type cannot be treated with Vagisil/Monistat/other OTC remedies. I think yogurt helps, but you need to see a doctor!! You will only be on the medicine for about 2 weeks I think, but it's the only way I know of. I got a bacterial infection and the medicine prescribed the doctor made me feel sick and I stopped taking it and tried other methods for a few days, but ended up going back to the meds and taking them with food to avoid feeling nauseous. It was the only thing that worked and I strongly advise you to see a doctor.

You should NOT use soap "inside" ever. You should only wash the outside, and rinse it off because that is what causes an infection. Also, you don't want to get the area any wetter. This is what the doctor told me. It itches and you want to wet it, but resist the urge. the last thing you want to do is make it even more moist. You should use a soap like Ivory without any moisturizers in it and no lotion on the area. Don't ever douche. I put baby powder on sometimes if it feels a bit too wet. And after sex, you need to wash off! This is one of the causes of bacterial infections! The remedies you have described do not sound helpful. You need to be extremely careful about what you're putting in there, and peroxide sounds horrible!! PLEASE see a doctor.

Plain non flavored yogurt dip into a tampoon and wear. Also use some of that Summer's Eve Feminine wash that is safe to use near that area. Do not put anything like soap up inside unless you want some irritation and possible infection. Yogurt is very good for this.

There are so many things you can do! Antibiotics might help for a short time (though they don't help me at all), the problem will keep coming back. Your best bet is to try to get back in balance yourself. Yogurt douches are supposed to be great as well as hydrogen peroxide. Some women do both, alternating one in the morning and the other in the evening. It's important to take probiotics and watch what you eat while trying to treat it.

Never put soap in there! If you want to wash with soap, only wash the outer area and the best one for this is a glycerin-free, unscented, ph-balanced soap. I use Dove Unscented for sensitive skin.

I've had this problem for 4 years and am still trying to get rid of it. Nothing has worked. What I'm doing now is drinking kefir milk whic is loaded with probiotics (40 to 50 as opposed to 7 or 8 in yogurt) and I'm fixing to start taking Miracle Mineral Supplement which is supposed to rid your body of all toxins, bacteria, yeasts, and parasites. It's supposed to cure cancer, AIDS, Lyme Disease and others. If it can do that, it should be able to handle this! This is it for me. I hope it works. Stay strong!

P.S. The natural remedies seem to be more proven for these things than antibiotics, which kill the good AND bad bacteria in your body, leaving open to getting more infections in the long run. Natural rememdies are better in that they target only the bad bacteria and baclance you out. Find something that works for you.
